The process of sampling a portion of the output of an amplifier and feeding it back into the circuit in a manner that will tend to correct any deviation the output signal from the input signal other than gain. Feedback usually lowers output impedance and distortion and noise. It also serves to flatten and extend the frequency response of an amplifier.
